COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Event Attendance Policy - FAQ's

Introduction: Waikato Chamber of Commerce (WCOC) events have been greatly impacted by New Zealand’s August Delta outbreak. To protect the health and safety of our staff and member business community, WCOC will host events with vaccination entry requirements under the NZ Government’s new Covid-19 Protection Framework. Operating in this way is essential for providing certainty for our member business community, as it means we will be able to continue to operate under each level, with restrictions as required, instead of needing to cancel or postpone events due to Covid-19.

What was the outcome of the Risk Assessments?

Through the Health and Safety Risk Assessments of WCOC’s day-to-day business and events, feedback from WCOC staff, the stance of external venues where we host events, as well as appreciating the wide and diverse range of views on this subject by WCOC sponsors/members, it is decided all involved (staff/attendees) would be at risk from Covid-19 and should be vaccinated. Therefore, any event hosted by WCOC up until 31 December 2021 will be virtual regardless of the level the Waikato region. In addition, any event hosted by WCOC from 1 January 2022 will require any physical attendee, including members, non-members, sponsors and wider stakeholders to be fully vaccinated.

Who does this requirement to be vaccinated apply to?

All WCOC staff and physical attendees of WCOC events and visitors to the WCOC office at WINTEC House.

When does this come into effect?

WCOC aims to become fully operable under the Government’s Covid-19 Protection Framework no later than 1 December 2021. However, due to restricting WCOC events to virtual only up until 31 December 2021, the date to which it comes into effect for anyone who is in physical attendance is 1 January 2022.

How do I submit my proof of vaccination?

The formal Covid-19 Vaccine Pass is available to download via the ‘My Covid Record’, here is the ‘how to guide’. It is likely WCOC will require physical attendees to provide proof of vaccine at the event registration stage, however, confirmation of the exact process will be sent out prior to 1 January 2022.

If you wish to visit the WCOC office, please bring your Vaccine Pass with you (printed or on your phone).

I have only received my first vaccination. Can I still attend in the New Year?

No. Our policy is that all physical attendees must be fully vaccinated. This decision is to protect the health and safety of all WCOC staff and all attendees.

I have decided against vaccination. Can I still attend WCOC events?

If the event is a face-to-face event (even if outdoors), no. However, we do appreciate our members/non-members right to choose their vaccination status, therefore some appropriate events will be recorded. In this case, a video will be sent to attendees and if this service is available, this will be noted on the event registration page.

Will I still have to wear a mask if I’m vaccinated?

Under the new framework (red, orange and green levels), face coverings are still recommended to limit the transmission of COVID and mandatory in some instances. You can view details on the framework levels here - New Zealand's COVID-19 Protection Framework.

What about booster shots?

We are still working to understand the full detail and processes for how this will work, and we will communicate this to you once it is known.

This is an evolving situation and we will continue to review our policy to ensure it remains relevant and aligned to new developments. We appreciate your understanding.

If you have a question about our policy, our events or any of the above, please contact WCOC CEO, Don Good or 029 823 3533.
