Ata mārie,
Waikato Quarterly Economic Monitor
The latest Infometrics Quarterly Economic Monitor shows the Waikato economy continuing to build momentum, with GDP growing 2.3% over the year to June 2026, ahead of national growth of 1.7%. Business numbers, employment, consumer spending and traffic flows have also increased, while strong primary sector activity continues to support the regional economy.
There are encouraging signs across construction and tourism too, with non-residential building consents up 16.9% and visitor guest nights up 2.2%. Housing activity is also picking up, although house values remain relatively subdued.
While the outlook remains cautious amid global uncertainty and ongoing labour market pressures, the latest figures point to a Waikato economy that is showing resilience and beginning to strengthen. Read the full Quarterly Economic Monitor for the Waikato Region here.

We’re moving!
We’re excited to share that we will be moving our office to Waikato Innovation Park at the end of September. Our new home puts us right at the heart of the region’s growing innovation, research and enterprise community, alongside a number of innovative Waikato businesses and close to the University of Waikato, AgResearch and Ruakura. We’ve loved our two years at Union Square and are incredibly grateful to the Fosters team and our Union Square neighbours for making it such a great place to call home. We look forward to welcoming members to our new home soon!
