Colleagues had told me of the huge benefits they have received through their local Chambers as well the great networking opportunities and relationships they had built with other local businesses in their areas so it was a no brainer for me when the opportunity arose. I believe building relationships is the key to success in business!

To be honest, I'm still in the process of moving down from Auckland and still looking for a house at this moment in time but my wife and in-laws are Hamilton born and bred so have spent a lot of time here since my arrival from the UK. The thing I love the most about the Waikato is how everyone comes together for local events and initiatives to champion and support good causes and local businesses!

When you're lost in the labyrinth of laws, we're the guides you want by your side, making sure your path to a new life or star employee is as smooth as a well-mixed cocktail.

I joined the Chamber because let's face it, my social life needed more pizzazz than just arguing over who should pay for the last round of drinks with friends. I figured, why not network with people who can actually spell "entrepreneurship" without using auto-correct? I'm most excited to attend those glamorous Chamber events where everyone pretends not to look at your name tag while striking up a conversation about quarterly profits. Oh, and I can't wait to get my hands on those exclusive market insights, so I can finally win the next heated debate about economic trends at family dinners.

We love living and working in the Waikato because of its natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, which provides a balanced lifestyle between rural tranquillity and easy access to urban amenities. It's a dynamic region that offers unique work opportunities, adding professional satisfaction to the sense of community and balanced pace of life here. Meet Safety Genius Ltd

On the surface we are sign manufacturers that specialize in Safety Signage, keeping Kiwis safe from Kerikeri to Invercargill with plenty of places in between!

We've probably been guilty of keeping ourselves a little too under the radar, so we want to get more involved with local businesses and meet likeminded business owners & their teams.

I had a couple of inspiring conversations with Hawkes Bay regional CEO, Karla Lee, before moving to Hamilton which encouraged me to consider joining the Chamber once I moved to Hamilton. Getting to know the Waikato business community gives me a sense of excitement as I'm a natural connector of people. I enjoy hearing the backstory of those who've built great businesses (small or large). It's a natural way to learn about the heart and ethos of a business owner and it allows me to naturally share about what I do. Now I've settled in, it's time to let the business marketplace know I'm here, as it's them who I serve.

What I love the most about living & working in the Waikato is first and foremost, my daughter. After adulting separately for 13 years, she requested I come flat with her. How could I refuse? I'd been nomadic and travelling the world until the Covid shenanigans grounded me and as I had visited her enough over the past 6 years she's lived here, it just made sense. I really like how the Waikato is central to the wider regions of the North Island, which suits other business projects I have bubbling away in the background. Not to mention I've a great home office that I really enjoy working in - chef's kiss!

Meet Legacy Funerals

Legacy Funerals is a full-service funeral provider, that is different to most. In 2007, Gregory Brownless who was born and raised in Hamilton - then owner of Woodhill and Tauranga Park Funeral Homes, made a decision that would change his life and the lives of others in the community around him.

Driven by a longstanding desire to give something back to the people who had given him so much. Greg decided to literally give his business to the community. And so, Legacy Funerals and the Legacy Trust were created. The Trust distributes profits from the funeral home to the local community. Legacy Funerals Tauranga and Cambridge expanded in 2022 to service the entire Waikato region with the establishment of new premises in Hamilton.

We made the decision to join the Waikato Chamber of Commerce, because we see it as an opportunity to network, share and educate people about all that we do in the funeral industry.

Early in 2022 my partner, the kids and I moved to the Waikato region.  We love that the area has everything you need, and nothing is too far away.  We are excited about the growth in this area and the future to come.

Its is great to see so many likeminded businesses within the Chamber community so I look forward to the many events where we can share a (Good George) beer.

What excites me about having a locally owned an operated business here in the Waikato is the amount of investment going into the region, the locals passion for the region and all that is on offer for us as a business. Our region has a strong community feel and people are willing to support each other. There is a surprising amount of locally produced theatre, music and dance happening throughout the year in Hamilton and all the other towns in the region. It's also a beautiful area to live in and travel to, with plenty of green spaces and our wonderful river.

An easy choice for our team to connect and grow alongside many other businesses. I am most excited about getting among the community and other businesses to learn and connect. The team of over 80 offers a range of technology services such as web & CMS, application & custom development, modern workplace solutions, and data & business intelligence for clients ranging from SMBs to global enterprise-scale organisations.

Once implemented, clients are offered an ongoing technical support partnership to ensure your technology is kept up to date and that customers get fast access to support for small projects, leapfrogging the standard RFP process.

Meet Bo Studio

Bo Studio launched in June 2022. We're a UX design company that specialises in supporting agritech businesses to help them improve the experiences customers have with their digital and physical products. Agritech products are typically development-driven, so Bo exists to bring a user-centred perspective into organisations to create solutions that align business strategy with user needs. I decided to join the Chamber to connect with more people in Waikato. I've been back in New Zealand for a year after spending three years in Ireland, so I'm still very new to the area and still discovering the people and businesses here.

I'm most excited to start attending the great events the Chamber puts on. The topics and speakers look really interesting, so I'm looking forward to learning more and connecting with people.

What I love most about the Waikato is the work-life balance. There aren't many places where you can live on a 120-acre farm and still be within 30 minutes of a city (Hamilton). It's also exciting to be part of Waikato's growth and seeing it become a technology hub.

If you are within the agritech sector, I'd love to catch up and hear about your technology and the challenges you're facing.

We offer a broad range of services that do just that. We are building their skills and resilience to cope with their challenges and to enable them to make better decisions going forward. We are giving them dignity and hope. Whatever need presents, our team are there to work on the transformation of their lives by offering ongoing support and respect.

We have joined the Chamber to broaden the awareness of what we do and how you can help. We joined the Chamber as we recently merged two established businesses, The Osteopathic Clinic and Daws Osteopathy, and are striving to be the best. We are looking forward to learning from and sharing with others who excel in their industries. What are you most excited to get out of our membership? People and knowledge. Collegiality and learning.

What is not to love about the Waikato? Personally, I travelled here from Scotland for a month in 1998 and have yet to find a reason to leave. Marcus, my business partner, has a similar story. We make our trip a visit and carry the groceries inside for our customers if they need us to. If we are mowing lawns, we do not use traditional petrol powered lawnmowers but prefer greener battery operated equipment.

We decided to join the Chamber because we want to meet, connect and learn from other businesses offering similar services, find new opportunities for networking and expand our business network, promote our business and build new relationships with organizations, who deal with the vulnerable members of our community. We are excited to gain access to information we need to overcome any challenges and help us grow our business.

We love “The Mighty Waikato” because we believe it is a region filled with opportunities and room for growth. It is the perfect place to raise a family, start a business or better still a family business. With its diverse population and community spirit, the Waikato is rich with organisations and communities that are always finding new ways of doing things and supporting each other as we have seen in Chamber.
