Chamber-Backed Projects Receive Budget Boost
Budget 2026 delivered some significant wins for the Waikato and upper North Island, including a $1.8 billion commitment to the next stage of the Waikato Expressway extension to Piarere and $400 million to improve the resilience of key state highways, including SH25 and SH2. Waitomo Group: Fuel Market Update
Following recent global events and rising fuel prices, we asked our member Waitomo Group to provide a fortnightly update offering timely insights into the fuel market. This series is designed to help customers and businesses better understand what is driving change at the pump. In this week's edition, Tim Beasant says fuel supplies in New Zealand remain secure, with healthy stock levels and no risk of domestic shortages. However, ongoing uncertainty in global energy markets means fuel prices, particularly diesel, could remain volatile in the weeks ahead. Read their latest blog for an update on what international developments could mean for Waikato businesses.
Invest in Your Business, Invest in Yourself
When economic conditions are challenging, one of the most valuable investments a business can make is in capability and skills development. Taking time to work on your business, rather than just in it, can help uncover new opportunities, improve efficiency, and strengthen resilience for the future. There are some excellent training and development opportunities currently available, including the Government's new fully funded business resilience training initiative, Adapting to Change Workshops and our business training events Business Diagnostic Workshop, and the Business Owners Programme. If you're looking to sharpen your strategy, build new skills, or prepare for growth, now is the perfect time to invest in your business.
