Welcome to the Chamber Rebecca Wylie

We sat down with the Chamber's new (Marketing Membership & Events Coordinator, Rebecca Wylie to get to know more about her.

Welcome to the team! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’ve called rural Waikato home for the last 14 years but grew up in rural Wairarapa and Manawatu on large sheep & beef farms. Job opportunities, location, and the hub of everything equine related brought me to call Waikato home.

My family and I live on a lifestyle block near Gordonton, and I have two primary school aged children who enjoy competing in Show Hunter and Motorcross across the Waikato, and surrounding areas.

I have ridden horses and lived rurally all my life, I compete across the NI in Show Hunter and absolutely love it. I also love going to the gym, and supporting and enabling my kid’s passions in their chosen sports and seeing them grow.

I have a Bachelor of Business Studies, and a Bachelor of Business Studies with Honours Degree from Massey University, and upskilled very recently completing a Diploma in Digital Marketing with NZIE.

Tell us about your work history.

I have previously worked in Marketing roles for head offices for Suzuki NZ, Repco, Bunnings, VetEnt, Fieldays, and most recently Cemac.

What does your role at the Chamber entail?

Planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality Marketing, Membership and Event initiatives from concept to execution, ensuring engaging experiences for members and stakeholders.

What are your strengths and skills?

Marketing, marketing, marketing. With marketing quals a plenty, and vast experience with marketing big box retail, vehicle, veterinary and event sectors I look forward to complimenting the current team with my skills.

Digital marketing is very hot and important for businesses right now, having just graduated with a Diploma in Digital Marketing I look forward to imparting that knowledge and skills with the Chamber.

What are you looking forward to bringing to the Chamber?

My new skills I have recently learnt in Digital Marketing, some fresh eyes, and my experience from the other side of the fence as a Chamber Member.

Where is your favourite place in the Waikato?

On the back of my horse in the hills out the back of Cambridge at Pleasant View Equestrian riding with my daughter. Otherwise, Waitomo Caves and Hamilton Gardens are pretty special spots.
